Ph.D. at the Christian Medical College, Vellore
Several faculty and departments across the institution are recognized for Ph.D. programmes under the Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University; Thiruvalluvar University and Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences & Technology (SCTIMST).
CMC does not have a central single admission for Ph.D.s unlike the policy for all other courses. Ph.D. candidates are selected/ recommended for Ph.D. registration by their guides, with whom they have generally worked for a period of time before applying for Ph.D. registration. The guidelines for registration are given below. CMC is compliant with the policies and procedures of the Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University; Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences & Technology (SCTIMST) and Thiruvalluvar University therefore it is suggested that all candidates read the University policies regarding registration, methodology examination, synopsis submission, thesis submission, consolidated reports and public viva voce examination very carefully at the time of registration and frequently during their research. The Principal’s Office will communicate any major changes in University policy, but candidates should also keep checking the University websites for changes and updates. Ph.D. Registration Guidelines
Ph.D. registration guidelines in CMC and other University affiliation
- All communications to the University have to be forwarded through the Principal, CMC.
- Candidates who would like to register for a Ph.D. with the University are required to write to the Principal, CMC through the Supervisor, requesting permission to carry out research in CMC.
- On obtaining permission, the candidate should complete the "Institutional application form", available in the Principal’s Office.(Research)
- Tuition fee of Rs. 400/- per year will be levied during the first three years [i.e. Rs. 1200/- in total] of your training.
- Rs. 3,000/- will be collected in one installment towards Alumni Association Life Membership fee if you have not already become a member.
- The Ph.D. registration form must be obtained from the respective university webpage;
- Completed (a) Institutional application form (b) University Ph.D. registration form should be submitted to the Principal’s Office through the Head of the Department.
- On obtaining the Principal’s signature (with seals), the University PhD registration form and the documents mentioned in the University application form should be submitted to the University.
- CMC does not register Ph.D. candidates from other institutions.
