Community Health Department (CHAD) Started in 1955, CHAD includes a training centre, an outpatient clinic, and a secondary care hospital. It offers learning opportunities for medical, nursing, and paramedical students, postgraduates, and staff. Known globally for its research, CHAD also provides healthcare, therapy, health education, and nutrition support to communities in the Kaniyambadi block and the tribal villages of the Jawadhi hills
Advancing ENT Services
In June 2024, CHAD opened a well-equipped endoscopy room, treating nearly 1,300 patients and performing 72 minor procedures. It also resumed audiology services, including neonatal hearing screening, and renewed outreach efforts in Jawadhi village, reinforcing its commitment to community centred healthcare.
Public Health Centre
The CMC Centre for Public Health, established in 2024, promotes equitable healthcare delivery, public health workforce development, and scalable, evidence-based solutions through focused research, capacity-building, and cross-sector collaboration.

Health centre: The C.K. Job Tribal Health and Development Centre serves tribal communities in the region from 2024. 308 clinic days were conducted, serving 6,426 patients.

Jawadhi hills & Veerapanur mobile clinics: 1,057 mobile clinics conducted and 26,315 patients served.

Community based rehabilitation: Provided rehabilitation, including occupational and physical therapy, and a special monthly clinic for people with disabilities in Veerapanur.

Thalassemia screening: As part of the TNHSP project, work with the government screening school children and antenatal women for Thalassemia. Trait positive and disease positive patients are treated. Totally 19 schools have been visited (26 visits totally) and 1498 children have been screened for Thalassemia.
Development Programmes at Jawadhi Hills

Model village programme: Supported health-related infrastructure and livelihoods in four villages, with a focus on agriculture and sanitation upgrades in Narthamarathur and Etimarathur.

Children’s programme: Enrolled 1300 children at 50 evening study centres

Girl advocates for health: Selected 25 girls to advocate for health

Scholarship programme: 10 students enrolled in colleges

Substance abuse programme: Ongoing weekly clinics and activities in schools and villages to prevent addiction.

Youth groups: Formed youth groups in six villages to combat alcohol abuse (funded by FOV UK)
