Christian Medical College (CMC) Vellore – Chittoor Campus, in collaboration with the Chittoor District Administration, Government of Andhra Pradesh, inaugurated a collaborative urban community health initiative on 10 April 2026 to improve access to quality health care for urban communities in Chittoor district. The Chittoor Community Clinic, located at a government maternity health centre in Mittoor ward, is expected to start out-patient services on 13th April 2026.

The inauguration was held in the distinguished presence of People Representative leader Shri. Gurajala Jagan Mohan, Hon’ble MLA of Chittor and administrative heads district administration; Shri Sumit Kumar, IAS, Hon’ble District Magistrate and Collector, Shri .Thushar Dudi IPS Hon’ble Superintendent of Police, Dr. Naga Bhusan Reddy , Hon’ble DMHO, Dr . Padmanjali Devi, Hon’ble DCHS, Shri. Narasimha Prasad , Hon’ble Municipal Commissioner, Shri Keerthana Hon’ble Drug Inspector as well as the administrative officers from CMC Vellore Dr. Biju George, Director, CMC Vellore; Associate Director Chittoor Campus Dr. Uday Zachariah; and the Medical Superintendent Dr Rajesh I.

The programme included a brief inaugural session followed by a ribbon‑cutting ceremony, formally marking the launch of the initiative. This collaboration brings together the clinical expertise, academic strengths, and community health experience of CMC Vellore with the leadership and public health mandate of the Chittoor District Administration.

There is an emphasis on preventive health, timely care‑seeking, and close coordination with district health and urban health systems. Speakers at the event highlighted the importance of academic–government collaboration in addressing health challenges and underscored the shared commitment to equity, people‑centred care, and health system strengthening.

The inauguration marks an important milestone in advancing accessible and quality urban health services and reinforces the role of collaborative partnerships in achieving sustainable public health impact.
