OUTREACH

Injury prevention and research camps

This is a community welfare outreach program conducted by our department in co-ordination with various NGOs and institutions. The objectives of this camp are to spread awareness on the importance of injury prevention and first aid techniques. It is conducted regularly by a dedicated team of doctors, nurses and paramedics covering 100 – 150 people per camp. The target population consists of students, factory workers, social workers and teachers.

The various components of the camp include a slide show on injury prevention, video show on first aid, demonstration of basic life support and splinting on mannequins and posters on nutrition and health. In addition, there is an interactive session on women’s health exclusively held for women. If the audience includes children, puppet shows and short stage plays are used to convey the message.

Occupational health

This sub-specialty was started in 2013 to address to the occupational illness and hazards to the employees of the institution and to promote awareness to occupational health. It is a multi-disciplinary initiative for clinical, educational and research. Activities include spreading awareness, public education, and catering to the needs and health of employees of the institution. The first national conference on occupational health was hosted by CMC in 2015.
