Cash award: Rs.20, 000. This award is conferred upon a scientist for the research in the field of TROPICAL DISEASES.

Cash award: Rs.20, 000. This prize is awarded to an Indian scientist for significant contributions in the field of GERIATRICS.

DBT( DEPARTMENT OF BIOTECHNOLOGY AWARDS)

  1. Innovative Young Biotechnologist Award (IYBA)

The young scientists below the age of 35 years are considered for this award.
Rs.25, 000/- per month for those awardees who are not in regular employment. Awardees having a regular employment will receive a cash award of Rs.1, 00,000/- (Rupees One Lakh Only) every year during the course of the project.

  1. Fellowships at The National Institute Of Biomedical Genomics

Applicants for this Fellowship should possess Ph.D., M.D., or an equivalent degree relevant to biomedical genomics, with an outstanding track record reflected in publications and other professional achievements. Each awardee will receive a consolidated fellowship of Rs 75,000 per month and a contingency grant (not exceeding Rs. 500,000 per annum) linked to a project to be proposed by the applicant at the time of application.  The duration of the fellowship will be for a period of five years. In case an awardee during the tenure of the fellowship finds a suitable job at any research institute/university, he or she will be permitted to relinquish the fellowship and take up the job. 

  1. Biotech Product, Process Development & Commercialisation Awards

Upto five awards shall be given every year. Each award will carry a cash amount of Rs.2.00 lakhs along with a citation. Rs.5.00 lakhs would be given if the product is commercialized and has much higher impact of utilization in the country.The applicants should be a citizen of India, and Indian institution or an Indian company and be actively involved in the development of biotechnology processes and products and commercialization of technologies or product based on indigenous research.

  1. Ramalingaswamy Fellowship

The fellowship is open to scientists, physician researchers and bio-engineers from all over the world. The applicant should possess a higher degree or equivalent, such as PhD in life sciences/ agriculture, bioinformatics, engineering, masters in engineering or technology/ medicine etc. and have adequate professional experience. 15 fellowship per year would be awarded. The duration of the fellowship will be for a period of five years. The amount of the fellowship will be of Rs.75,000/- (consolidated) per month. Each awardee will, in addition, receive a contingency of Rs.500,000 per annum for purchase of consumables, minor equipment, international and domestic travel, engaging project staff and other contingent expenditure to be incurred in connection with the implementation of the project.

  1. Tata Innovation Fellowship

To recognize the contribution of scientists in various fields of biotechnology Life Sciences, Agriculture, Biomedical Sciences, Bio engineering, Translational Health sciences Indian Nationals who are below the age of 60 years.
The applicant should possess a Ph.D degree in Life Sciences, Agriculture, Veterinary Science or a degree in Medical Sciences, Engineering or an equivalent degree in Biotechnology related areas. The applicant must have put in several years of work in the specific area. The amount of the fellowship will be Rs.20, 000/- per month in addition to regular salary from the host institute. In addition, each Fellow will receive a contingency grant of Rs.5.00 lakh per annum for purchase of consumables, equipment, international and domestic travel, engaging manpower and other contingent expenditure to be incurred in connection with the implementation of the project to be carried out during the tenure of the fellowship.

  1. National Bioscience Award for Career Development ”

Scientists who are currently engaged in basic and applied research in biosciences & biotechnology including biological, agricultural, medical, and environmental sciences and have made outstanding contributions in research with potential for application/ product and technology development. Each Award carries a cash prize of Rs. 1,00,000/- along with project research grant of Rs.9,00,000/-. The nominee must be a citizen of India including Overseas Citizens of India (OCIs) and should be below the age of 45 years on December 31, 2007. The work for which nomination is made must have been carried out in India.

  1. National Woman Bioscientist  Awards

Two categories:
National Women Bioscientist Award (Senior Category) (one)
The National Women Bioscientist Award (Senior Category) is awarded to senior women biologist for life time contributions, who have done excellent research in the country and has applied the results for benefit of students and society. The Award carries a cash prize of Rs. 1.00 lakh along with citation and a gold medal.

National Women Bioscientists Award (Young Category) (Two)
The National Women Bioscientists Award (Young Category) is given for outstanding contributions of women scientists below 45 years of age in basic and applied research in the areas of biosciences and biotechnology including agricultural, biomedical and environmental sciences with potential for application/product and technology development. Contributions made during last 5 years (For OCIs, atleast 3 years continuous stay & work or 5 years stay & work in piece meal basis over a period of 10 years in India), would be the main consideration. The Award carries a cash prize of Rs.1.00 lakh with citation and a gold medal.

DST(DEPARTMENT OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY AWARDS)

  1. National Environment Fellowship Award

Nominees should be below 60 years and his / her application for both the fellowships should be supported by at least two Fellows of the National Academy of Science / Engineering / Agriculture.

  1. National Award for Women’s Development through Application of Science & Technology

The individual/ institution should have a minimum of 10 years experience and outstanding contribution in researches, design development, adaptation or application of science and technology at the grassroot level for women’s development.

National Award for Outstanding Effort in Science & Technology Popularization among Children (Rupees One Lakh)

National Awards for Outstanding Effort in Science and Technology Communication in the Print Medium (Rupees One lakh)
National Award for Outstanding Effort in Science and Technology Communication in Electronic Medium (Rupees One Lakh)

These awards have been instituted to recognise outstanding efforts aimed at communicating science and technology and promoting a scientific attitude among people. Individuals/institutions who have made extraordinary contributions in the field of science and technology communication over the last five years will be considered for these awards. These awards will be announced on the National Science Day 2009.

CSIR AWARDS (Council of Scientific and Industrial Research)

  1. CSIR Young Scientists Awards

These awards are given for outstanding contributions made by young CSIR scientists based on work done primarily in India. It comprises a citation, a plaque and a cash prize of Rs. 50,000/-. The award also carries a grant of Rs. 10 lakh spread over five years for pursuing a research project independently.

  1.  Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Award

Each of the value of Rs 5,00,000 (Rupees five lakh only), are awarded annually for notable and outstanding research, applied or fundamental, in the following disciplines: (1) Biological, (2) Chemical, (3) Earth, Atmosphere, Ocean and Planetary, (4) Engineering, (5) Mathematical, (6) Medical, and (7) Physical Sciences.

  1. CSIR Technology Awards

One prize each in the four technological areas of (a) Biological (b) Chemical (c) Engineering (d) Materials technology to be awarded to individual (s) or group(s) of personnel from CSIR and contributors external to CSIR for a specific and outstanding technological achievement . Each Technology Prize comprises a cash award of Rs. 2 lakh for the technological areas from (a) to (d).
