Working hours are generally 8 a.m. to 4.30 p.m., Mondays
to Fridays and 8 a.m. to 12 noon on Saturdays, though these
may vary depending on your assignment. Visitors participate
at CMC within a framework of approval by the Indian government.
You should therefore expect guidelines which may differ
from your previous experience.
If you plan to travel within India, you may wish to do so
before, or after your time at CMC, or to arrange in advance
for any lengthy break. You should liase with the department
in which you expect to work, if you wish to take a long
break. You should also inform the receptionist for your
guest house about where you are going and how you may be
reached in case of emergency, prior to your leaving. If
you travel alone, be sure to carry some document identifying
your connection with CMC, Vellore.
If you are staying for more than one week, you will be asked
to provide two one inch square color photographs of yourself
to the Deputy Director for International Relations for an
I.D. badge and bus pass. There are studios across the street
from the hospital, that will make your photographs quickly
and for a reasonable cost.
