If you send packages, you may
wish to use a courier service or speed post, which are
somewhat more expensive but reliable. Tailors can also
stitch and seal a package for mailing. There are branch
post offices at both College and the Hospital, and they
are open every day, except Sundays and holidays. The main
post office in the centre of Vellore, opposite to the
Raja Theatre on the Main Road in Vellore provides a 24-hour
service. In addition to the post offices, you can mail
letters at any post box on the Hospital or College grounds.
Give correspondents your current and complete address,
including your department name, if applicable. Using the
correct postal number (zip code) is important. If you
live on the Hospital campus, or use a Hospital department
address, the number is 632 004. If you live on the College
campus, the number is 632 002.

post office. The booths can be used 24 hours a day, seven
days a week, and payment made to the booth operator when
the call is completed.
It is possible to purchase a cell phone locally. However
since there are government rules governing the purchase
of cell phones by foreigners, if you want to purchase a
mobile phone, this should be done through the Deputy Director
for International Relations. You will need to submit one
passport size photograph along with a copy of your passport
and Indian visa.
