CMC operates a variety of medical and development programs
to meet people’s needs. If you wish to visit one
or request a brief stay, contact the Deputy Director for
International Relations, or the Principal’s Office
who will make arrangements for you.
Some areas of interest on the College campus are Nambikkai
Nilayam, a centre for the mentally retarded children and
the MHC; the Rehabilitation Institute for long-term rehabilitation
of patients, primarily with head and spinal cord injury,
CHAD, and its close relative, the Community Health Training
Centre (CHTC).
A visit to LCECU at the Schell Hospital Campus, where
Dr. Ida built the first hospital can be arranged by the
Deputy Director for International Relations. Other places
of interest include the Rural Unit for Health and Social
Affairs (RUHSA), and the Schefflin Institute for Health-Research
and Leprosy Centre (SIH-R&LC), formerly known as the
Schefflin Leprosy Research and Training Centre (SLR&TC)
at Karigiri, about 20 kilometres from the Hospital.
