Christian Medical College Vellore is one of the largest hospitals in India. Every day over 8,000 patients choose to come here for their treatment, because of

  • Committed doctors and staff, renowned for compassion and excellence, putting the patient first. Many of them have received training abroad. They are active in cutting edge research, keeping abreast of the latest developments.
  • Latest medical technology
  • Comprehensive, everything under one roof – from family medicine to nearly every medical speciality and super speciality
  • Strong ethical standards – CMC is not for profit, the doctors are employed full time, they have no other practices and receive a fixed salary with no incentive for unnecessary procedures or tests.
As well as the main hospital, CMC has an extensive range of community outreach services and specialist departments on other campuses –
  • Psychiatry and longer-term physical rehabilitation (Rehabilitation Institute) on the Bagayam Campus, which also has the community hospital CHAD;
  • Schell “Eye” Campus has the Ophthalmology Department and the Low Cost Effective Care Unit which cares for the slum dwellers. Nearby is the Shalom family medicine out patient clinic for the residents of Vellore.
  • Rural Unit for Health and Social Affairs, a community hospital near Gudiyattam;
  • Chittoor new campus, Andhra Pradesh, has an outpatient department

CMC was founded in 1900 by Dr. Ida Scudder, who set the pattern for selfless, dedicated service to the needy. CMC is accredited with the NABH and NABL. There is an underlying commitment to holistic care and spiritual values, as CMC seeks to serve patients and students in the Spirit of Christ and be a witness to the healing ministry of Jesus Christ.

Meet three patients with very different needs. What they share is the  trust that is at the heart of CMC.
